CWU is a nonprofit innovator in breaking the cycle of poverty. We provide direct services, perform in-depth research, and advocate for public policy changes that will support low-income women in their journey to economic self-sufficiency.
Crittenton Women's Union breaks new ground daily helping low-income women achieve economic independence. In one organization, we combine direct service programs, independent research, and public advocacy. Our clients' determination to overcome poverty informs our search for solutions and inspires our call for change.

Our understanding of the struggles of low-income women, our in-depth research, and our knowledge of best practices make us a powerful advocate for public policy and legislative initiatives to remove obstacles along the road to economic independence. About Crittenton Women's Union
CWU is a social service provider, a think tank and a grassroots advocacy organization—all in one. Each arm of the organization informs and intersects with the others, fostering a flexible, dynamic and creative environment that produces measurable results. CWU applies this unique, holistic approach to working with its clients, connecting them to a network of resources and accompanying them on their journey to economic independence. Each year, we serve approximately 1,300 low-income individuals annually, including women and their families, teens, and young adults.
