Pendulum Foundation
A juvenile justice advocacy organization striving to end Life in Prison without Parole for juveniles.
Children are not adults, plain and simple. In the United States, children under 18 cannot vote or even sit on a jury and yet when they commit a felony, they may be subject to the same consequences as an adult. The United States Constitution guarantee's each of its citizens a fair trial by a jury of his or her peers. The problem is that children have no peers in an adult courtroom.
Years of scientific research proves that children's' brains are different from adult brains. While the law recognizes that children are not responsible enough to make adult decisions when it comes to drinking, driving, smoking, serving in the military or even signing a simple contract, prosecutors are perfectly happy to treat children as adults when it suits their political ends. The result is that there are more children serving life in prison in the United States than any other nation in the world.
Vengeance is not justice.
To that end, The Pendulum Foundation is dedicated to ending juvenile life without parole and the draconian practice of trying children as adults.
