buildOn
buildOn works to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations through service and education. Our after-school service programs in U.S. urban high schools and school construction programs in developing nations around the world ignite the limitless potential of people to change lives and transform communities.
Every 6 days we break ground on a school in a remote village. And 95% of our afterschool students are graduating and attending college. buildOn is not an organization, it's a movement.

About buildOn
buildOn breaks the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. Through buildOn afterschool programs in high schools across the U.S., urban youth are contributing intensive service, helping seniors, young children, and the homeless in their communities, and are also helping to build schools in some of the poorest countries on the planet.

buildOn after-school programs are located in 118 of America’s lowest performing urban high schools. Students in buildOn programs have contributed a staggering 760,000 hours of service, addressing the most pressing needs facing our inner cities—feeding the hungry and the homeless, tutoring children, and assisting senior citizens living in isolation. buildOn also partners these same students with developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Central America to build schools, providing access to education for communities who need it most.

buildOn’s school construction programs, in nine developing nations, have completed more than 380 schools to date. And through the unparalleled commitment of parents and grandparents to educate their children, both boys and girls, rural villages provide all the volunteer labor in collaboration with buildOn to break ground on a new school every six days.

More than 57,000 children and adults attend these schools daily. And with 95% of our US students are attending college, buildOn is inspiring the next generation of global leaders. buildOn is not a charity, it’s a movement. Join us today at buildOn.org.
